About Taco Bell
Glen Bell, founder of Taco Bell, opened his first restaurant shortly after the end of World War II. Bell originally opened a hot dog and hamburger joint, but started looking for alternative menu items after noticing competition with an upstart by the name of McDonald’s. After owning and then selling several other restaurants, Bell opened the first Taco Bell in 1962. The Downey, California restaurant is still operational today.
